Operation 'move the bees a foot every other day' commences

Yesterday I went to collect a hive that my beekeeper friend Nicola is going to let me borrow to hive my 'tree bees' in for this season. But you can't just plonk bees into a hive. The rule is - 3 feet or 3 miles. So, you can move them less than 3 feet away from the original location or more than 3 miles otherwise they will return to where the hive entrance used to be.

Below is my solution - red recycle boxes on top of the new hive. Looks precarious but the recycle boxes are weighted down with buckets of paint and my husband's toolbox. The plan is to move them a foot or so every other day.
